Unqualified, A Life Coach Not Pastor

I say this in love. The book was not biblical. Mike Todd reads into the text and tailors scripture to fit his personal beliefs. The Gospel is absent from this book. Read (Galatians 1:8). There are legitimate concerns regarding his Theology, and I pray that he shepherds the sheep the right way.

Not enough meat but lots of gravy

Man you are one of my favorite pastors however this book does not speak to the gift you have of being anointed. I am an avid reader and this book I felt was written by a teenager just starting out. it was obvious at the beginning where this book was going. Your energy of being all over the place came to life in this book. While I appreciate your life's journey I wasn't sure if this book was about you or relationships. Maybe just maybe it's for a younger audience who does need guidance but not intellectual stimulation. I'm just gonna focus on your pastoral gift and continue to ask God to cover your steps. Your next book will have more structure, meat and maturity

“Progress, not Perfection”

Michael Todd is Pastor of Transformation Church and sermon series about marriage and dating on YouTube that’s gone viral to millions. After reading this book, it’s easy to see why. “Relationship Goals” is written in a contemporary style with easy, relatable examples. It’s also straight up based on biblical principles, gives chapter and verse and is not shy about saying what’s right and wrong. Todd is enthusiastic and heartfelt in his desire to share: “quiet the cries of culture and you may just hear the Holy Spirit.” A few of the gotta haves are : Aim, Purpose, Target and Goals. These are the steps that set us up to attaining successful relationships and the title of this review - “Progress, not Perfection”. Todd is certain in addressing the point that the most important relationship to secure is between yourself and God. Until that one is working properly, all others will suffer. He does admit that relationships outside of God are possible but spends the majority of this book showing the biblical principles of relationships. There are many little nuggets of goodness to harvest through this volume and the last chapter that’s written in tandem with his wife is sheer joy. One of my favorite’s would have to be: “Singleness is not a curse. It’s an opportunity!” There’s a brilliant discussion that goes on afterwards you’ll need to read for yourself. This entire book is full of things you’ll be interested in regardless of what stage of life you’re in. It’s truly a relationship book and can be used with kids growing up, pre-marriage counseling, troubled marriage counseling, or relationship advice in general. A book destined to become a long-standing resource; highly recommended 📚

A MUST READ!

This book is a game changer! Pastor Todd guides you to the user manual, The Bible. With his easy to ready style he speaks to you in a relatable way about how to work on every relationship in your life. It doesn't matter your age or relationship status this book is a must read!!! I wish I'd had these book 30 years ago!

10/10 Best book out!!!! 🙌🏾

So far I’m only on chapter two but I’ve already fallen in love with this amazing book. Paster Todd really put working into this book and dropped a lot of gems. I’m in my early 20s so having books like this to help guide me or just give me a little knowledge on thing I’ll experience in life is very helpful. Definitely would recommend this amazing book.

#Relationshipgoals

A MUST READ for anyone who is single, dated, or married and wants to improve their relationships. I truly wish I had this book 20 years ago as a teen approaching adulthood! Pastor Mike practically shares advise on how to improve your relationships. Everyone can learn something and I promise you won’t regret making this your next read for 2020.

Skip if you’ve heard the sermons

I love transformation church and like most of Michael Todd’s preaching, but this book just feels like he’s trying to profit off the sermons. While I like that he revisited the viral series from the pulpit, it disappoints me that it just so happened to coincide with the release of his book, which he’s been promoting from the pulpit. It’s basically the sermons in written form, nothing new added. I was really conflicted when he promoted it so heavily from the pulpit (And did a book signing in the church? What??), but I gave the book a chance since I think his heart is in the right place to some extent. The writing itself is a bit all over the place, which is his verbal style, but doesn’t work well in written form. The message is VERY surface level, so don’t expect deep, intellectual stuff. Like other reviewers, I think he also has a habit of twisting verses to fit his beliefs, for example: someone has a soul tie to anyone they have sex with. As someone who previously spent a lot of time in that arena, that’s just false, and the verses and justification he tries to use just don’t hold up. I’m sorry, but I’m tired of Christians who married young and have only had sexual relations with their spouse (or haven’t been with anyone else in decades) trying to tell those of us who didn’t go that route what it means with nothing to back it up. I’m not saying sex outside of marriage is wrong, but his thoughts on it aren’t biblically backed up. That’s just one instance of several that make me pause and go, “where in the world did you get that conclusion?” Overall, if you listened to the sermons for free, skip the book. You’re not missing anything new.

Genuine Relationship Help

Relationship Goals the series he preached was AMAZING!! This book is just a walk through plus more of that series. He’s so genuine about helping people win in relationships and you can tell through every word and every page. Thank you so much Pastor Mike for giving us something we didn’t even know we need.

You won’t be disappointed 🔥🔥🔥

I literally bought 2 copies of this book because I know I’ll have to share the book with someone. This book is going to change your life when it comes to relationships and it’s a book like no other, be prepared to be transformed after reading this book. Lastly, share this book with everyone you know, regardless if the know Jesus or not.

Kind of disappointing

7/30/20 I was so excited for this book. I watch Transformation church all the time and bought this for myself and 4 other ladies to do a book club for this book. That said, I really wanted to like this book. I’ve only read 5 chapters so far but it has been a pain trying to get through chapters. The first chapter was fluff imo. It was too long of an introduction. There is good stuff but I had to wait until chapter 4 to get anything out of it. So far not much of the Bible is really given and it seems like most of the quotes used are only used for the purpose of making the point that was already being made and not really about the Bible. Even the relationship from the Bible used was a stretch to try to get the point across form chapter 5. The points made were not bad - although I felt it could have been condense to less writing but the example seemed a bit weak. I know this is Pastor Mike’s first book but whoever he had to read over this (not proof read but for clarity) did not do a good job. All the information in each chapter had a right to be there but much of what I read felt like a school paper where you fluff your paragraphs to get length by rehashing what’s been said before over and over. It was organized disorganized mess. Some of the stuff from previous chapters were not just mention but talked about for 1-3 paragraphs which just felt like more fluff even if it wasn’t intended to be. Also a lot of what he says in the book, he’s said in his sermons (The stories used/some examples). So it also begs the question, do I even need the book? In comparing it to Nabeel Quereshi’s Seeking Allah Finding Jesus, Nabeel uses a lot of what he says in his talks about becoming Christian or when talking to Muslims about Christianity but the book expounded and added things he had not said (which you can find many of his talks on YouTube.) For relationship goals the stories and examples are verbatim what Pastor Mike would say in his sermons and the subsequent explanations also almost verbatim as well. I hate to say it but so far it’s been boring to read because of all the above. Will update after I’ve read to the conclusion as I’ve only read half the book.
