Rửa sạch các nguyên liệu hải sản để ráo.
Bắt nồi nước sôi (~2 lít nước), sau đó cho củ hành tây và sắn vào ninh khoảng 15 phút.
Bắt chảo cho ít dầu ăn vào tỏi băm phi thơm, tiếp tục cho cua và gạch cua vào cùng với dầu điều. Tắt bếp.
Đổ phần nguyên liệu vừa chế biến xong cho vào nồi tiếp tục ninh cùng với bạch tuộc khoảng 1 phút rồi vớt ra.
Tiếp đến nêm gia vị: 3 muỗng cà phê muối, 3 muỗng đường (gia giảm theo vị ngọt mỗi người), một ít bột ngọt, nửa muỗng caphe hạt nêm, 1 muỗng nước mắm.
3 muỗng sắn dây/bột năng cho vào chén thêm nước lọc vào khuấy tan rồi cho vào nồi khuấy đều cho đến khi nước súp trong và hơi có độ sánh. Mở lửa riêu riêu.
Bánh canh đem trần sơ với nước sôi sau đó rửa lại bằng nước lạnh cho thêm 2 muỗng tỏi phi với dầu ăn vào đảo đều.
